heroes
Please note all art work and content for this section of the website is from the Black History Foundation's annual booklet (Black History Month 06). We would like to thank Siobhan Harper-Nunes (Editor) and the team and interviewer Paulette Wisdom for their support in sharing these wonderful findings on local black 'heroes'.

:
For many years members of the Black History Foundation has discussed the subject of positive of role models from the UK. Black magazines currently available are littered with information about film stars and pop stars from the USA and even discussion about our most well known icons from the past: Martin Luther King, Mary Seacole, Gandhi, to name but a few. But what about heroes that did not make the headlines? Ordinary men and women who dedicate their lives to affecting change in their communities? This project was developed with them in people in mind. Funded by Heritage Lottery Fund we have included tasters of 20 interviews. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. The BHF is creating a bank of heroes from past and current times and turning this material into workbooks for schools and community groups.

If you have a personal hero, write to Siobhan at: siobhan@blackhistoryfoundation.com
